Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love Duo Plans Hits For Idol Winner

The songwriting superduo behind LEONA LEWIS' smash hit BLEEDING LOVE has given new AMERICAN IDOL winner DAVID COOK a big boost by offering to write him a string of tunes.

Jesse MCCartney and Ryan Tedder originally wrote Bleeding Love for MCCartney's new album - but realised the song would be better sung by a woman, giving Lewis, the winner of British TV talent competition The X-Factor, a huge hit.

And now the duo hopes to do the same for another talent show victor.

MCCartney says, "Ryan and I are planning to write some songs with him for his (Cook) album."

Cook beat fellow finalist David Archuleta in the Idol finale on Wednesday (21May08).

Oscar winner Crash becomes TV series

The Oscar-winning film 'Crash' is to become a TV series.
The drama will be shown on the Starz network in the US this year and the film's director, co-writer and producer, Paul Haggis, and co-writer and producer, Bobby Moresco, are among those involved in the new show.
This is only the second time a film which has won the Best Picture Oscar has been turned into a TV series: 'In the Heat of the Night' was the first.
Commenting, Haggis said: "I'm very happy that Lionsgate [the show's co-producer] and Starz have decided to develop 'Crash' into a series. Ironically, my initial impulse was to present the material in a format for television. I am thrilled it's coming full circle and can't wait to see how it expands and transforms."
Production on the 13-episode first series is set to begin in the spring.
Haggis' new film, 'In the Valley of Elah', is currently in cinemas. Read the review here.

New U2 movie premieres at Sundance

U2's new concert film 'U2 3D' premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Saturday night.
Speaking to the Associated Press before the screening, U2 guitarist The Edge said: "I was really hoping we weren't crap after all these years. Luckily we weren't."
He was joined at the screening by singer Bono, drummer Larry Mullen and bassist Adam Clayton.
Commenting on seeing himself in 3D on a cinema screen, Bono said: "It's kind of horrific. It's bad enough on a small screen. Now you get to see the lard arse 40-foot tall."
The film, which is the first digital 3D, multi-camera, real-time production, will be shown at Cineworld, Movies at Dundrum and Movies at Swords - all in Dublin - from 22 February. It will also be screened at SGC Dungarvan in Co Waterford.

U23D breaks box office records

'U23D', the first live-action movie ever shot, produced and exhibited in digital 3-D, has broken box office records in Ireland.
U2's concert film had the highest screen average (€11,192) of any film playing in Ireland last weekend and took in €89,538 from just eight cinema screens in its first three days.
Justin Marciano, Managing Director of Revolver Entertainment which is distributing the film in Ireland and the UK said: "This weekend's takings for the film prove that there is an enormous appetite for this kind of filmmaking."
He added: "We're eager to see how it grows in scope as more audiences experience this step forward in 3D technology."
Filmed in South America during U2's 'Vertigo Tour', 'U23D' was directed by Catherine Owens, U2's visual content director for more than 15 years, and Mark Pellington, who directed U2's 'One' video.
